Royal North Shore Hospital Child and Adolescent Unit is seeking an experienced Paediatric Registered Nurse to provide leadership to the team in the role of Nursing Unit Manager. The position is a temporary job share role, 14hrs per week.

It is an exciting time to join the child and adolescent team at Royal North Shore Hospital. We have a 20 bedded inpatient ward, medical and surgical short stay unit, hospital in the home and outpatients' services. We cater for children from 0-17 years who are admitted to the unit. Our main specialities include medical, surgical, orthopaedic, ENT, plastics and mental health. We are a welcoming team and offer a supportive fun environment to all staff joining the team. The senior nursing support team includes full time NUM, CNE, CNC and CNS 2’s. The unit has a strong philosophy of quality improvement and family centred care. Royal North Shore Hospital has a positive culture and actively encourages staff to develop. Support is offered for research studies and post graduate qualifications.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse-Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) AND Relevant management tertiary qualification OR equivalent work experience, OR a combination of study and work experience; and demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  2. Recent experience in the child and adolescent setting.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and support a clinical team.
  5. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Applications, roster management systems and electronic medical records.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in change management and initiating a new service delivery model within an established service.
  7. Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
