About the Role
The Geriatric Outreach Services (ARRT, BRACE and GRACE) provide service to the Northern Sydney Local Health District every weekday from 8am to 8pm, including public holidays. Geriatricians are sought to provide medical support on weekday evenings for these multidisciplinary teams providing care to acutely unwell community and Residential Aged Care Facility residents. This will include predominantly videoconference and telephone support. Successful applicants will ideally have experience in a community outreach setting.

Purpose of the Position
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients under your care in a Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC). 

The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District. 

This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered.
  2. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
  3. Experience working in an Aged Care outreach model providing acute care to older residents in the community.
  4. Appropriate experience to practice as a senior medical practitioner in Aged Care
  5. Evidence of ability to lead and work in a mutlidisciplinary team, with commitment to quality improvement
  6. Demonstrated excellent communication skills
  7. Demonstrated computer literacy skills
