The position is based at Northern Beaches Hospital providing world-class services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 14 operating theatres, 2 cardiac catheterisation laboratories, 4 procedural rooms, 488 inpatient beds, a 50-bed Emergency Department, comprehensive medical and surgical subspecialty services, critical care including intensive care, diagnostic and interventional radiology, comprehensive cancer care with a day infusion centre, outpatient services, an on-site GP medical centre, an education and interactive simulation centre, 1,400 car parking spaces, and established public transport links.
Services include:
• Upper GI endoscopy
• Colonoscopy
• Small bowel enteroscopy
• Capsule endoscopy
• ERCP (comprehensive public and some private services)
• EUS
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered.
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- Sound clinical knowledge in Gastroenterology and Hepatology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Gastroenterology and Hepatology Consultant
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Preparedness to participate in any on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established.
