Purpose of the Position
To provide a clinical management and consultation service to patients in the Geriatric Outpatients with conditions applicable to the sub-specialty of Aged Care Medicine. Ongoing quality assurance activities at the Departmental, Divisional and District levels and additionally as directed by the Rehabilitation and Aged Cares Services Head of Dept, Director of Medical Services and Director of Clinical Governance.
The focus of this Geriatric service is non admitted Geriatric patients requiring review and management from a specialist Geriatrician. This includes falls evaluation, memory evaluation, assessment for dementia and other geriatric syndromes.
Services are provided at Mona Vale Hospital and Brookvale Community Health Centres.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Geriatrics (RACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration,Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders;colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
- Sound clinical knowledge in Geriatric Medicine demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality assurance activities relevant to the specialty.
- Demonstrated clinical, diagnostic and technical skills commensurate with functioning as an independent Geriatric Medicine Consultant including Demonstrated understanding of the aims of Geriatric Outpatients service and how to successfully achieve these.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated participation in and commitment to undergraduate, postgraduate, interdisciplinary teaching and education, including research, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- A valid NSW Driver's license.
