What you'll be doing
The screening of all newborns across the NSLHD using Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR) equipment. To provide initial and subsequent hearing screening of newborns in the maternity units prior to discharge home. The role involves direct handling of newborns and contact with parents. It entails working in clinical settings that may include a ward/special care nursery or outpatient department. The Screener gathers and accurately records clinical and screening information relevant to the hearing screening process and communicates the results to the parents and relevant nursing/medical staff. On-site training will be offered to the successful applicants. 

The Hearing Screening position is part-time. The following shifts will be filled by 3-4 successful candidates: Every Saturday at North Shore Private - 4 Hours per week, every Saturday at The Mater - 5 hours per week, alternate Saturdays at Royal North Shore Hospital - 3 hours per week but worked fortnightly as a 6 hour shift. To assist with Leave cover and workload management, it is a service requirement that you may be required to work in any facility within Northern Sydney Local Health District. This job would be perfect for people comfortable working with babies, have great communication skills and are looking to return to the workforce or looking for reduced working hours. These are permanent part-time positions and on the job training will be provided.

  1. Ability to work independently and as a member of multi-disciplinary team.
  2. Demonstrated time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
