What you'll be doing
The Senior Ledger Control Clerk is responsible for the preparation of complex account reconciliations, the investigation and resolution of difficult accounting issues, the preparation of complex reports and contributing to ensuring that the Local Health District's (LHD) accounting records are maintained in accordance with relevant Accounting Standards, Ministry of Health and LHD policies and procedures, often within tight timeframes. The incumbent will liaise with HealthShare to ensure individual balance sheet accounts are reconciled according to required timeframes, including the investigation of inconsistencies and erroneous data and pursuing outstanding information to enable the accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts. The position provides high level advice and services to internal stakeholders concerning financial accounting, audit and finance related policies and procedures. The position will investigate and review accounts and accounting practices and processes; and develop and implement solutions where appropriate. The position will also be responsible for the preparation of audit information and relevant supporting work papers.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, Commerce or Health Administration and/or extensive experience in accounting within a large organisation, preferably within the public sector.
- Extensive experience in complex General Ledger reconciliations, preparation of detailed accounting information and reports, and providing advice to other staff on the completion of work in this area.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise workloads to meet competing demands. High level interpersonal skills and consultation skills, with the capacity to explain and discuss accounting or policy issues to a diverse range of stakeholders.
