The Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) provide specialised support to Adolescents and Young Adults with a life limiting illness in Australia’s first dedicated 8 bed healthcare facility which offers respite care, symptom management and end of life care. The care provided is holistic, compassionate, and culturally appropriate, delivered by an empowered multidisciplinary workforce working in partnership with patients and their families.

The Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH), located in Manly, provides a supportive and compassionate environment for young people with life-limiting illnesses. Working at AYAH involves collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, patient-centred care. The MDT consists of doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff to address the complex needs of adolescents and young adults. The role requires strong teamwork, effective communication, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families. Being part of the AYAH team offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative and specialised palliative care within a dedicated setting in Manly.

What you'll be doing
In this flexible, part-time role at the Manly Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH), you will deliver specialist clinical psychology services to patients, including comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, consultation, feedback, reporting, and ongoing review. You will play a key role in providing a high-quality, evidence-based psychology service aimed at enhancing the health, wellbeing, and overall experience of adolescents and young adults in care. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with colleagues to support holistic, patient-centred outcomes. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist with a Master's degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, relevant clinical area in psychology AND Post graduate experience.
  2. Relevant experience working in a palliative care setting and providing psychological assessment for the purposes of diagnostic assessment and psychological treatment within a multidisciplinary team. Experience working with adolescents and young adults desirable.
  3. Demonstrated competence in evidence based psychological treatments delivered on an individual and/ or group basis and with inclusion of family members as appropriate.
  4. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the teaching and learning capacity of the team including student supervision and training, and quality improvement
