The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Older Peoples Mental Health (OPMH) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert clinician who functions at an advanced level in nursing practice associated with the OPMH service. The actions of the CNC are directed towards achieving improvements in clinical practice, standards of care and improved outcomes for older consumers and their carers.

What you'll be doing
The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Older Peoples Mental Health (OPMH) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert clinician who functions at an advanced level in nursing practice associated with the OPMH service. The actions of the CNC are directed towards achieving improvements in clinical practice, standards of care and improved outcomes for older consumers and their carers. The CNC acts as a leader in health care and utilises an evidence base, contemporary theories of practice and clinical coaching to foster a learning environment and facilitate clinical and professional development of nurses across the OPMHS specialty.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (APRHA) and a minimum of 5 years post registration experience in a mental health and/or aged care speciality. Hold a current NSW Driver’s licence.
- Post graduate tertiary qualification within the speciality of aged care and/or mental health drug and alcohol.
- Demonstrated experience with research and /or quality improvement activities.
Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership in management of older people with complex mental health issues and psychiatric disorders and associated behaviours.
