Clinical Nurse Consultant
The Intellectual Disability Health Service (IDHS) is looking for a Clinical Nurse Consultanet Grade 1 (CNC1) to help establish and run an adult sedation pathway for residents of NSLHD. This is initially an 0.2 FTE position for 12 months and will be working with the IDHS team at Royal North Shore (RNS) Community Health Centre (CHC) and running the monthly clinic at a hospital in the District. This will involve an early start and a longer day on clinic day.
We are looking for someone who has knowledge and experience of working with people with an intellectual disability and demonstrated understanding of implementing reasonable adjustments within a healthcare setting.
The successful applicant will be working weekly on a Tuesday or Thursday initially.

What you'll be doing
Northern Sydney Intellectual Disability Health Service (NSIDHS) is a multidisciplinary consultative health service that provides clinical and capacity building services in the treatment and management of children and adults with intellectual disability.
The Adult Complex Needs Clinic (Calmcare) is a pilot project designed to establish a multi-tiered conscious sedation pathway for adults with intellectual disability and complex needs.
The CNC will work with the Intellectual Disability Health Service to:
A) Coordinate all aspects of Calmcare including triage, assessment and assisting with a range of procedures alongside relevant clinicians.
B) Deliver high quality clinical care to adults with intellectual disability and their family and carers.
C) Implementation of multi-tiered sedation interventions including:
i. Desensitization techniques with support strategies.
ii. Reasonable adjustments
D) Completing comprehensive notes, data collection and other relevant information gathering
Experience of, and a working knowledge of behaviour support and making reasonable adjustments for people with intellectual disability would be highly advantageous.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience. In addition, the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification and substantial relevant experience to the specialty.
