Bereavement Counsellor and Coordinator - Northern Sydney Local Health District
Royal North Shore Hospital Social Work Department is seeking a full time permament Bereavement Counsellor and Coordinator to join the committed team at Northern Sydney Local Health District. You will be working alongside Bereavement Counsellors from both Hammond Care and NSLHD facilties to ensure the delivery of quality, client focused bereavement services to the community.

What you'll be doing:
The Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Bereavement Counsellor and Coordinator will be responsible for delivering specialist bereavement counselling and overseeing the consistent delivery and embedding of a public health model of care across NSLHD. The Bereavement Counsellor and Coordinator will work with NSLHD services (including HammondCare) to enhance the provision of bereavement support across the district.
The Bereavement Counsellor and Coordinator is also responsible for providing support to family members and carers of deceased patients within the NSLHD. The position will offer consultation and education to multidisciplinary staff within the NSLHD, as well as to the wider community. Service planning, participation in policy and service development, and liaison with internal and external stakeholders are key components of this role.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics. Minimum clinical experience as a Level 2 Social Worker.
- Extensive demonstrated clinical experience within a health care setting and a specialist knowledge of bereavement, grief and loss processes with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage complex cases effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of education and training to health professionals in the areas of grief, loss and bereavement.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in the provision of clinical supervision of social work students and clinical social workers.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in service planning and development, implementation and evaluation of new models of care.
- Demonstrated high level ability to communicate clearly and succinctly both verbally and in writing, and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
