The CNC will be based at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) but be involved in the management of older people in acute care, RACF and the community settings.
What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nursing who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices.
The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
- Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent experience working with aged care patients within an acute hospital environment. In addition, the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with patient’s, carers and the multidisciplinary team using current evidence based best practice and research. A proven ability to assess, plan, initiate and manage complex cases.
- Demonstrated high level clinical experience and leadership, competency and experience working with an acute aged care environment, including assessment and management of patients with complex and chronic issues. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate experience and expertise in the management of cognitive impairment, with emphasis on the management of delirium and dementia.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change
