The Role
South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is committed to improving the care provided to our patients in line with our vision of Working together to improve the health and wellbeing of our community.
The medication management component of the ARIA Medical Oncology Information System has been implemented in outpatient services across St George Hospital and The Sutherland Hospital. The ARIA e-prescribing Pharmacist will act in the development and ongoing maintenance of chemotherapy protocols, electronic prescribing, dispensing and drug administration with ARIA medical oncology. The role will help to ensure that technology enhancements support clinical workflows, comply with all medico-legal requirements and improve patient safety.
A significant part of the role will be the designing, building and testing of clinical decision support within the application. The Oncology E-prescribing Pharmacist is also expected to be an application specialist for ARIA Medical Oncology and a resource for other staff.
As ARIA Medical Oncology prescribing is fully integrated and maintained in the outpatient setting there is potential to expand the scope to chemotherapy administered to inpatients. The position holder will work to integrate the position into Pharmacy.
The role will also undertake support and training of staff from St George Hospital and The Sutherland Hospital within ARIA Medical Oncology.
The e-prescribing Pharmacist must establish collaborative relationships with individuals and groups internal and external to SGH and TSH cancer services. The timely and effective communication of information and knowledge to engage key stakeholders is a critical component of this role.
The position holder will also act as a clinical lead in developing and implementing policies and procedures to facilitate improved workflows across Cancer services related to electronic prescribing.

Selection Criteria
- Registration with AHPRA as a Pharmacist with current clinical experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Sound knowledge of and experience in all aspects of oncology information management systems (e.g. ARIA, Mosaiq, Charm) and their application across all operational functions of cancer services
- Highly developed written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to provide advice and recommendations across different organisations
- Efficient computer skills including competency with Microsoft suite of products and ability to use LHD computer applications
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management and other key stakeholders
- Preferable demonstrated experience in project management and reporting with ability to complete tasks within a given timeframe
