The position is based on Royal North Shore Hospital campus, though is required to work across NSLHD midwifery facilities and services
What you'll be doing
The Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Principal Midwifery Manager and Co Director Maternity, Neonatal and Women’s Health provide strategic and operational direction as well as support, ongoing service development & managerial direction of the clinical network across facilities in NSLHD.
The Principal Midwifery Manager & Co Director Maternity, Neonatal & Women’s Health is responsible for the strategic leadership of clinical services including staff (midwifery, nursing, medical, allied health & ancillary) & resources in partnership with NSLHD & facility executives to meet agreed budgetary targets.
The Principal Midwifery Manager & Co Director Maternity, Neonatal & Women’s Health as a senior midwife is a resource person for complex human resources issues, clinical investigations & participates on facility, local health district, state & national Committees relevant to the network.
The Principal Midwifery Manager & Co Director Maternity, Neonatal & Women’s Health will uphold the principles of practice as defined by the following: Nurses & Midwives Act 1991; Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council (ANMC); Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current registration as a midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and Extensive clinical midwifery and senior management experience within a tertiary-level hospital or across a maternity service, including demonstrated skills in operational and strategic planning. Possession of appropriate tertiary qualifications, relevant work experience, or a combination of both.
- Demonstrated ability to implement contemporary models of care and research within a maternity service, with the aim of improving continuity, collaboration, care coordination for women to improve outcomes and the patient experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to motivate & organise individuals & teams to achieve organisational goals. This includes the ability to advise, implement & monitor governance frameworks to support clinical practice across the clinical network.
- Demonstrated leadership in ensuring quality and safety of maternity services including the ability to incorporate data, analytics, and women’s experience into the monitoring and ongoing improvement of maternity care.
