Where you'll be working
Paediatrics at RNSH consists of emergency services provided in the designated Paediatric area of the Emergency Department, and acute in-patient, HITH, ambulatory care and out-patient services within the Child and Adolescent Unit. Royal North Shore Hospital usually sees >20,000/year Paediatric patients in the Emergency Department, about 15% require admission to the inpatient unit.
successful applicant will also have special responsibilities for supervision and on-site teaching of Macquarie University medical students in addition to liaison with MQ university faculty staff.
Purpose of the Position
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within the District.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them
- Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in General Paediatrics
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Evidence of and commitment to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team environment and academic faculty
- Significant experience in medical education is desirable.
- Evidence of and commitment to quality improvement methodologies.
