An exciting opportunity exists to join the pharmacy intern program within NSLHD. Two positions are available in the 2025 program, where successful candidates will work across Royal North Shore and Ryde Hospitals.

Where you'll be working

Royal North Shore Hospital pharmacy department (approximately 6 months) and Ryde Hospital pharmacy department (approximately 6 months)

What you'll be doing
Under the supervision of registered pharmacists, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of hospital pharmacy services including clinical pharmacy services, dispensing, medicines information and manufacturing.


People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Bachelor/Master of Pharmacy or equivalent degree and eligible for provisional pharmacist registration with the Australian Healthcare Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an intern pharmacist with an ability to rotate across RNS/Ryde Hospital sites and participate in after hours, weekend and public holiday work as required.
  2. High level of clinical pharmaceutical knowledge, and understanding of its application in therapeutic situations.
  3. Ability to cultivate resilience and wellbeing in challenging situations.
  4. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including with ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with patients, carers, pharmacy department staff and members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  5. Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to use initiative.
