Health Education Officer Graduate: $37.48 - $59.89 per hour

What you'll be doing
The Consumer Peer Worker will draw upon their lived experience of mental health challenges and their personal recovery journey, to develop empathetic relationships and support personal recovery for consumers of Mental Health Drug & Alcohol (MHDA) services in the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD). Consumer Peer Workers work collaboratively with MHDA teams to support people using MHDA services. Consumer Peer Workers also have a role in providing lived expertise into systemic issues and changes through policy development, committee participation, education and training, projects, research and other service development initiatives.
Consumer Peer Workers will receive appropriate training, supervision and support to carry out their roles. Casual employees may be required to work across MHDA services within NSLHD as needed.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (Consumer) or willingness to obtain within 12-18 months of commencing employment.
- Ability to utilise and share aspects of your lived experience to support others individually and/or in groups, in their own mental health recovery journey in a safe and effective way.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to consumer led recovery principles and trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective working relationships with a diverse range of people including the people using MHDA services, clinicians, managers and community members.
- Demonstrated clear written, verbal communication, negotiation skills, organisation and time management skills, proficient in computer and digital skills.
