About the role
Kamala Child and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Unit are seeking Registered Nurses to join the team in Lismore. Kamala services young people and their families who reside in Northern NSW (NNSWLHD) and Mid North Coast LHDs. Our nurses play an essential role in the multi-disciplinary team and work alongside psychiatry, social work, occupational therapy and clinical psychology, as well as Department of Education teachers and psychologists and a range of diversional and creative therapists in providing high quality care.
Kamala is a high performing team that has been recognised with multiple awards. In 2025, the nursing team won the NNSWLHD Nursing and Midwifery Awards and progressed to become finalists in the NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Awards The entire team were also awarded winners of the 2025 NNSWLHD Quality Awards. In addition, Kamala was recognised in the 2025 YES/CES Awards for their outstanding Carer Experience Survey results.
Our Kamala Registered Nurses coordinate and deliver high-quality person-centred nursing care for young people and their families and carers, in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards for Practice for Registered Nurses, and the Policies and Procedures of the Ministry of Health (MoH) and NNSWLHD.
Nursing care is provided utilising the principles of Trauma Informed Care and Recovery and in accordance with the National Practice Standards for Mental Health Workforce 2013 and the NSW Health Mental Health Competencies.
