Where You’ll Be Working
This position sits within the New England Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (NEBIRS), located on the grounds of Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. Tamworth is a vibrant, progressive regional city of approximately 60,000 people, set against a picturesque backdrop of tree-covered mountains. Known for its family-friendly lifestyle, Tamworth offers diverse sporting, cultural and recreational opportunities, along with cafés, restaurants and weekend adventures. Conveniently located halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, the city offers six daily flights, providing excellent accessibility. NEBIRS provides specialist brain injury rehabilitation services across the region within a supportive multidisciplinary framework.
About the Role
This role forms part of a two-person paediatric case management service providing specialist brain injury rehabilitation for clients aged 0–18 years. You will work closely with another Paediatric Case Manager while receiving regular support from the adult multidisciplinary NEBIRS team through structured case conferencing and ad hoc consultation.
The role includes:
Community-based case management
Home and school visits
Risk assessment and care planning
Building therapeutic relationships with children, young people and families
For suitable clients over 16 years of age in the northern Hunter New England LHD, access to the Transitional Living Unit supports rehabilitation goals and independence. This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver high-quality, specialist rehabilitation services within a community setting.
About You
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Exceptional communication and therapeutic engagement skills
Strong case management capability and risk assessment experience
Ability to work collaboratively within a small paediatric team
Understanding of community-based service delivery
Commitment to delivering high-quality, client-centred rehabilitation care
Requirements:
- Speech Pathologist or Dietitian or Social Worker with eligibility for their National Peak Body.
- Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA
- Current eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
