What you'll be doing
The Director of Medical Services will establish, lead and maintain a clinical governance framework for Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug (MH,AOD) Services including leadership in the review of policy, workforce and service planning, monitoring and evaluation of clinical services and programs including a risk management framework.

Where you'll be working
The Northern NSW Local Health District extends from Tweed Heads in the north, to Tabulam and Urbenville in the west, and to Nymboida and Grafton in the south. We provide acute healthcare services in eight hospitals, and four Multi-Purpose Services (MPS). Our hospitals are located at: Ballina, Byron, Casino, Grafton, Lismore, Maclean, Murwillumbah and Tweed Heads. Our MPS facilities are located at: Bonalbo, Kyogle, Nimbin, Urbenville. Selection Criteria
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Psychiatrist, and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists
- Sophisticated working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act and demonstrated experience of its application in mental health practice
- Demonstrated experience in a managerial or leadership role with effective people management capabilities in the health care environment
- Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation, consultation, and interpersonal skills reflective of the NSW Health CORE values with internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability and experience in clinical services planning, research, and quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to influence and advance the strategic and operational objectives of the services
- Valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
