Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. We are seeking a motivated and patient‑focused Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Outpatients Department in a temporary capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse with strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering high‑quality outpatient care in a fast‑paced surgical environment.

In this role, you will provide safe, effective and person‑centred Nursing care to patients attending the Surgical Outpatient Clinic. You will work collaboratively with Surgeons, Medical Officers, Allied Health Professionals and Administrative staff to support assessment, treatment, education and follow‑up of surgical patients. You will deliver comprehensive Nursing care to patients, perform pre‑ and post‑operative assessments and patient education, assist with procedures and wound management as required, coordinate patient flow and support efficient clinic operations and accurately document care in accordance with clinical and legal requirements.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse division 1 with AHPRA.
  2. Experience and clinical skills in Outpatient nursing is desirable but not essential.
  3. Recent experience in wound care as a registered nurse.
  4. Experience in venepuncture, IV cannulation, CVAD access and indwelling catheterisation is desirable but not essential as training will be provided, however applicant must be willing to learn.
  5. Managing the competing priorities within a busy clinical environment whilst maintaining a high quality of patient/client care.
  6. Recent extensive experience in working in an acute care ward.
