About Us

The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient's injury or disease.


The Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine/PET Service encompasses Diagnostic Imaging at Nepean, Blue Mountains and Lithgow Hospitals, Interventional Radiology at Nepean and Lithgow Hospitals, and Nuclear Medicine/PET at Nepean Hospital. 

The General Manager works collaboratively with the Clinical Director in a co-leadership model to provide leadership and to drive positive culture and patient centred care. The role of the General Manager has overall accountability for Operational and Financial Management of the service, including management of significant contracts and outsourced services, and is collectively accountable with the Clinical Director for strategic leadership.

This position works collaboratively with the Clinical Director to support NBMLHD’s achievement of performance targets and other accountabilities as per the annual service level agreement with the Ministry of Health.

You will lead a culture that promotes staff engagement and wellbeing, compassionate patient care, the highest standards of patient safety and quality, achieving and exceeding performance targets, and organisational sustainability and provide strategic advice regarding current and future Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine/PET services to the LHD Executive Leadership Team and Chief Executive, and lead redesign, improvement and reform programs to achieve strategic and operational objectives and ensure service sustainability.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification in a health or finance management related field, and/or substantial proven management experience at a senior level in a Medical Imaging or public health environment.
  2. Demonstrated experience in developing and leading complex multidisciplinary teams, promoting a culture of engagement, innovation and high performance.
  3. Demonstrated experience working in a senior managerial role within a performance management & accountability framework that enables managers to meet service delivery targets, financial, corporate and workforce responsibilities, and the provision of safe, high-quality services.
  4. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills including effective consultation and negotiation skills to resolve complex matters with stakeholders including health professionals, local community, colleagues, government and external agencies and staff.
  5. Proven team player who builds strong inclusive relationships at all levels of the organisation and collaboratively empowers others. Is resilient, agile, and adaptive with perseverance and tolerance of ambiguity.
  6. Demonstrated experience and ability to lead significant change programs and to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  7. Demonstrated advanced skills in financial management, contract management with an ability to lead financial recovery plans and achieve financial performance targets.
  8. As this is a District wide role, the ability to travel to all parts of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and work at various sites is essential.
