About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.
NBMLHD’s Population Health Division is responsible for addressing primary and secondary disease prevention within the local community through Health Promotion, HIV and Related Programs Multicultural Health. Our work is delivered through individual service delivery, Population level health promotion programs and capacity building initiates to members of priority populations on priority issues.
As the Director of Centre for Population Health you will lead the Centre for Population Health to develop strategy and policy to improve the health of all people living in NBMLHD. The Centre for Population Health works with people and organisations across the LHD to create healthy environments, policies and programs that support healthy choices and better health outcomes.
This role will see you provide a high level program management and advice for Population and Public Health within NBMLHD, including strategic, planning, governance, operational and performance requirements that enable delivery of programs that meet legislative requirements and achieve Ministry of Health KPIs. You will support Public Health to lead work to identify and prevent or minimise public health risks to the community and lead the growth of research that promotes prevention of chronic disease, communicable diseases and better health outcomes for people who live in NBMLHD.

What you will bring to the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Population and Public Health, and/or equivalent demonstrated relevant professional experience, with expertise in population and public health, and sound understanding of international, national, and state-wide issues and developments in this field.
- Proven high level ability to develop strategy, research, and policy to address population health priorities.
- Demonstrated superior leadership with a proven track record of fostering positive organisational culture and innovation, and the ability to lead significant change.
- Demonstrated superior communication skills with the ability to lead, persuade, negotiate, and motivate at senior levels and to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation. A proven track record of superior written communication, with the ability to prepare high level reports and executive briefings, and to present complex information in a variety of formats to diverse audiences.
- Proven superior analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to resolve unusual or complex problems. Able to anticipate and resolve problems in a challenging and dynamic environment.
- Proven track record of delivering results on KPIs and organisational priorities.
- Proven track record of financial management and responsibility for significant budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships with external organisations, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
