The Nepean Blue Mountains Health District offers a wide range of Medical Imaging (Radiology), Nuclear Medicine, and Nuclear Medical Therapy procedures through our various facilities/services with a goal to help diagnose, assess, and treat patient's injury or disease.
 

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Assistant Chief Radiographer to provide strong clinical, operational, and professional leadership within the Medical Imaging Department at Nepean Hospital. Reporting directly to the Chief Radiographer, this pivotal role contributes to the effective delivery of imaging services through strategic workforce coordination, operational oversight, and the ongoing development of staff capability and service excellence.

The Assistant Chief Radiographer plays a critical role in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Medical Imaging Department, ensuring the efficient allocation and management of departmental resources to meet the clinical, operational, and strategic objectives of the hospital and the Local Health District. Working in close collaboration with the Chief Radiographer and senior clinical leaders, the role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient centered imaging services across a complex and dynamic healthcare environment.

What you will bring to the role

  1. Degree in Medical Radiation Science (Diagnostic Radiography) or equivalent. Hold a NSW EPA Radiation Licence and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Extensive clinical expertise across imaging modalities, including a proven capacity to lead, educate and support Radiographers and other health workers in safe, effective clinical practice.
  3. Ability to organise workload to ensure staff and equipment are utilised efficiently and effectively with demonstrated experience in staff rostering and floor manager responsibilities.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and application of relevant legislation, policies and procedures relating to radiation management, quality assurance, and radiation safety.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative professional relationships, utilising advanced written and verbal communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and leading in the development and maintenance of protocols, teaching, or in-services.
  7. Experience and knowledge of computer literacy with Microsoft applications, Human Resources including Recruitment, Financial management applications, computerised rostering systems, Radiology Information and PACS and Incident Management systems.
