The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Triage and Assessment Registered Nurse to join our team in a pivotal role that shapes the care journey for consumers across our service.
This position requires a clinician who thrives in fast paced, multidisciplinary environments and is committed to ensuring every individual receives care in the setting best suited to their needs. Working closely with Emergency Department teams, PECC, Access services and inpatient units, you will be responsible for expertly triaging consumers, coordinating assessments and guiding them toward the most appropriate treatment environment. Your clinical judgement, collaborative approach and ability to navigate complex presentations will be essential as you support seamless transitions of care and uphold the highest standards of person centred practice.

What you will bring to the role
- Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) including completion of a new graduate RN program and/ or experience working as a Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated experience working with people presenting with an acute mental health problem
- Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team within minimal direct clinical supervision
- Proven effective high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to exercise independent professional judgement when solving problems
- Working knowledge of the NSW Mental Health Act 2007
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers and carers regarding mental healthcare
- An understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health and the ability to implement these within clinical practice
- Current Driver's License and willingness to use for work purpose travel
