The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team within a dynamic acute inpatient environment. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy services to consumers and their support networks, playing a vital part in supporting recovery, promoting functional independence, and enabling meaningful reintegration into the community and everyday occupational roles.

You will conduct comprehensive assessments and provide tailored interventions across both individual and group settings, ensuring care is responsive to each person’s unique needs and goals. Working within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of holistic mental health care grounded in recovery-focused and trauma-informed practice. What you will bring to the role
 

  1. Degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated clinical experience in mental health occupational therapy practice; skills and competencies that are transferable to a mental health setting
  3. Demonstrated high level of organisational and time management skills
  4. Demonstrated skills in verbal communication with consumers, teams, and agencies, with experience in clinical documentation and formal reporting
  5. Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and manage routine clinical matters with minimal supervision
  6. Demonstrated experience in the use of relevant evidence-based practice resources to guide decision-making and commitment to quality improvement
  7. Demonstrated ability to engage in self-directed learning and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  8. Current class C NSW driver's license or equivalent and willingness to drive for work purposes
