This is a secondment opportunity where you are required to have permission from your home agency to be released from your usual duties for the period.

About this role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to join the Operations and Program Support Unit which sits within the System Management Branch at the NSW Ministry of Health. The System Management Branch is responsible for improving health services through coordinating and promoting statewide initiatives, supporting operational efficiency, and assisting LHDs/SHNs with whole of system patient flow.

This is a pivotal role for a dynamic individual who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of factors affecting operational performance in a healthcare setting. Your role is critical in fostering effective relationships with stakeholders, including New South Wales Ambulance, and coordinating high-quality project management, governance and support.

Crown Clerk 9/10, salary from $125,693 - $138,510 plus Super and annual leave loading

What you'll be doing
In this role, you will:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for key projects and initiatives
  • Coordinate resources and support governance activities including auditing and evaluation of projects, programs and policies and preparation and analysis of data
  • Coordinate correspondence, including writing briefs, ministerials, presentations and letters, and lead the preparation of reports, audits and GIPAs
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure objectives are met
  • Provide high level support and guidance to team members, undertaking research where necessary to formulate evidence-based recommendations and supporting the branch response to emerging operational issues in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other priorities


About you 

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as health management, nursing, allied health or another relevant field.
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of the NSW Health system, including current challenges and risks, particularly in regard to patient flow.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of project management and proven experience in managing, delivering and evaluating projects.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products with ability and willingness to learn other software systems as required.
  • High level issues management skills and ability to work within short timeframes on sensitive and complex matters and provide high level advice.
  • Operational experience working in a healthcare setting would be advantageous for this role.
