Working at The Ministry of Health 
The Health and Social Policy Branch is part of the Health System Strategy and Patient Experience Division in the NSW Ministry of Health.

The Branch works in partnership with the health system, government agencies, academia and the non-government sector to develop equity-based policies and programs for the NSW health system, including where these connect with social care. The work of the Branch is strongly influenced by evidence-based and social determinants approaches and focusses on building connections and integrating care.

These positions are located in St Leonards, in a modern, purpose-built building within an activity-based working environment. Close to public transport, cafés and local amenities.

As these are full-time roles, the minimum expectation for office attendance is 2 days per week (with attendance up to 5 days per week available). Workplace adjustments are available to support people with disability and/or medical conditions, including in relation to flexible working.


Essential requirements 

  • Demonstrated relevant, professional experience in the area of health and social policy and/or relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Substantial experience in developing, analysing and evaluating policy and other projects in a multi-disciplinary or multi-agency environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders to deliver on complex policy and program/project areas.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing high level communications and correspondence including briefings, reports, submissions and notes to ensure comprehensiveness, accuracy, and timeliness of written information
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and respond to a range of issues of varied complexity and urgency, and develop coordinated, accurate and well analysed advice within tight timeframes.
