We have an opportunity for a Principal Epidemiologist to join the Centre for Epidemiology and Evidence to contribute to population health and broader public health objectives. The Principal Epidemiologist will develop methodologies for robust evaluation and monitoring using health system data and lead the generation of high-quality analyses to support policy and practice.
Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $139,787 - $161,663 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing
- Lead epidemiological and statistical analyses activities to support priority projects. Lead and manage complex linked and unlinked data analyses to deliver organisational objectives.
- Manage applying epidemiological methods with a reference to national and international concepts and standards to ensure that reported data provides reliable information for purposes of surveillance, evaluation, and policy.
- Supervise the preparation and dissemination of project results using epidemiological methods through publications, reports and presentations.
- Provide high-level technical advice on the suitability and feasibility of indicators and appropriate methods to evaluate policy and programs.
- Manage and develop stakeholder relationships with Commonwealth, State and other key partners through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to ensure deliverables are met for effective monitoring of outputs and outcomes.
About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Post graduate qualification combined with substantial practical skills and experience in either epidemiology, biostatistics, population/public health, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience with analysis and application of epidemiological and statistical methods to health data.
- Strategic thinking capability, able to understand complex challenges and programs and to apply problem solving and analytical skills to address and provide solutions to monitoring and evaluation challenges.
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience, including the ability to maintain effective relationships and a consultative approach to the design and delivery of monitoring and evaluation initiatives.
