About this role
You will be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contribute to a world-class health system in NSW.
The Pharmaceutical Services Unit (PSU) operates within the Legal and Regulatory Services Branch of the NSW Ministry of Health.
Our primary goal is to ensure the safe and regulated use of medicines and poisons in NSW. We do this through administration of the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1966 (NSW) and the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Regulation 2008 (NSW).
The Pharmaceutical Officer, Approvals Management, reports to the Principal Pharmaceutical Officer, Approvals Management.
Crown Clerk 7/8, starting salary from $110,266- $122,058 plus Super and annual leave loading (prorated).

What you'll be doing
- Administer statutory requirements under the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods legislation including:
- Managing approvals for the prescribing of schedule 8 medicines including psychostimulants, opioids for pain and medicines under the NSW Opioid Treatment Program
- Identifying areas of non-compliance to support compliance with the legislation including providing high quality advice and general information
- Providing high quality specialist advice about the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Legislation both written and verbal to stakeholders to support best practice in the safe and quality use of medicines
- Developing, reviewing and evaluating policy initiatives or strategies to increase compliance
