What you'll be doing
 

The Lead Pharmacy Technician – Automation and Distribution will lead the implementation, configuration and ongoing management of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) and Robotics at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick.  

This position will lead the implementation of ADCs and robotics in areas identified to require them. The person will also be involved in the day to day management of pharmacy related activities for the ADCs and robotic systems to ensure they are fit for purpose in a paediatic hospital setting. This includes providing user support, perform troubleshooting activities, optimising functionality based on analysis of usage and reports and action activities to ensure continued functionality of these systems. 

Sydney Children’s Hospital is undergoing a once in a lifetime redevelopment, and we are looking for Lead PharmacyTechnician - Automation and Robotics to join us as we move into our brand-new, purpose-built pharmacy in November 2025.

The new Pharmacy will feature automation in patient care areas to streamline inventory management and a central pharmacy equipped with a robotic dispensing system. The pharmacy has aseptic, cytotoxic, and gene therapy suites, along with specialised non-sterile compounding facilities to support tailored formulations.

SCH Pharmacy are recruiting a Full time technician with interest and experience in robotics, automation, informatics and digital health.

About You
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Certificate IV in Hospital Health Pharmacy Support, or equivalent. Experience in hospital pharmacy including paediatrics and/or emergency medicine.
  • Extensive experience in inventory management of pharmaceuticals in a complex hospital setting with a strong preference for paediatrics.
  • Experience in education, training, evaluation and monitoring of the introduction of new technology and processes in hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience with information technology and familiarity with the use of pharmacy software eg dispensing systems, electronic prescribing and medical record systems including training of pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, instruct others and adhere to legislative framework including the changing landscape of medication handling with the introduction of automation and robotics.
