Employment with Mid North Coast LHD requires candidates to hold a valid authority to work in Australia (Aust Work Rights Visa).

About the Role

This role is a key position within the Mid North Coast Integrated Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (IMHAOD) service, supporting the implementation of the new Emergency Mental Health & Addiction Assessment Team (EMHAART). The service is designed to provide safe, accessible, and centralised pathways for consumers, improving access, experience, and outcomes across the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

Operating as part of a 24/7 model, you will deliver expert clinical assessment, triage, and referral for individuals presenting with mental health and substance use concerns. The role plays a critical function in streamlining entry points into IMHAOD services, including supporting Emergency Departments and, where appropriate, providing virtual advice and assessment to emergency services.

As a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC1), you will provide advanced clinical expertise within your specialty, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care. You will also demonstrate leadership in promoting contemporary clinical practice, supporting service development, and driving improvements in care delivery across the district.

This is an opportunity to be part of an innovative service model that enhances access to care, strengthens service integration, and delivers meaningful impact for individuals, families, and communities.

About You

You are a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and a minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, supported by relevant postgraduate qualifications or equivalent expertise. You bring advanced knowledge in mental health and demonstrate exceptional assessment and clinical decision-making skills in complex and dynamic environments.

You are confident working both independently and collaboratively, with a proven ability to engage effectively with consumers, carers, multidisciplinary teams, and external services across the continuum of care. Your communication skills are highly developed, enabling you to influence and implement change through a collaborative, evidence-based approach.

You are committed to continuous learning and workforce development, with demonstrated experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating education initiatives for health professionals. Accreditation as an authorised clinician (or willingness to obtain) is essential.

Flexible and adaptable, you are willing to work across a seven-day rotating roster, including nights and public holidays, and hold a current NSW driver’s licence with the capacity to travel as required.
