What you'll be doing
The Assistant in Nursing provides nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse that reflects current standards of nursing practices and current Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures
About You
You present as a capable and well‑prepared health support professional with a solid foundation in clinical care. You have successfully completed a relevant Certificate III qualification in Health Services Assistance—such as HLT33115 Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care)—or you bring equivalent experience gained through enrolment in a Bachelor of Nursing with at least one year of training completed. Your knowledge of basic nursing care is reliable and practical, enabling you to confidently perform observations including temperature, pulse and blood pressure, while supporting patients with essential activities of daily living.
You communicate clearly and respectfully in written, verbal and interpersonal interactions, allowing you to contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary care environment. You work well under supervision, understanding when to seek guidance and when to apply your skills independently to maintain safe and appropriate care. Your grasp of Infection Control principles is sound, and you consistently apply standard precautions to protect patients, colleagues and yourself.
You demonstrate a thorough understanding of your scope of practice and show discipline in working within defined boundaries. This awareness supports safe, high‑quality care and reflects your commitment to professional standards and responsible clinical practice.
