What you'll be doing
Reporting to the CCN (Coffs Clinical Network) Clinical Director of Medicine, the Network Director for Emergency Medicine, and the CCN Director of Medical Services, the GP VMO for BRDH will provide a contemporary comprehensive service and clinical care to patients within the Coffs Clinical Network and in particular to Bellinger River District Hospital (BRDH). The GP VMO will also assist in the education role for the Coffs Clinical Network and the GP Training Hub at BRDH.
The General Practitioner can request responsibility for the provision of specialist services to:
- Emergency patients and on-call overnight for Emergency Department and Bellinger River District Hospital (BRDH)
- Inpatients in acute and long-stay wards as an admitting medical officer
- Both Emergency and on-call and Inpatients

This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.
Selection Criteria
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (Ahpra) as a Specialist General Practitioner, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Current, or eligible for, fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners or the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine and unconditional registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, with recent clinical experience in General Practice at the role delineation of the service.
- Excellent communication and liaison skills, fostering positive and productive working relationships between team members and with other disciplines.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Advanced Airway Management and Advanced Life Support
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel throughout the LHD as required.
