This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.
Selection Criteria
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Surgeon and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
- Demonstrated significant experience relevant to General Surgery and evidence of competence in skills relevant to a regional centre hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios and current Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy certification or recertification with The Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA).
- A minimum of one year Consultant experience working in a regional centre with special interest and experience in colorectal surgery, upper GI or trauma desirable.
- Participation in an equitable hospital on-call roster for General Surgery.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to General Surgery including teaching of medical students, JMOs, Nursing Staff, and other staff as required and an ongoing commitment to surgical research.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical quality improvement, accreditation requirements and peer review.
- Excellent communication and liaison skills, fostering positive and productive working relationships between team members and with other disciplines.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel throughout the LHD as required
