About this role
The Social Media Officer coordinates social media activities to inform the health system and community of health services, initiatives and public health issues.
This role is responsible for creating content, leading social media campaigns, undertaking community management and supporting other important communications activities for the NSW Ministry of Health and related organisations.
You'll be joining the largest public health system in Australia and contributing to a world-class health system.
Crown Clerk 5/6, starting salary from $93,295 - $102,941 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week.

What you'll be doing
- Use your knowledge of social media and content creation to help shape the future of health in New South Wales.
- Develop high quality and engaging social media content for channels like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Manage social media campaigns and work with stakeholders to achieve communications objectives.
- Ensure content on NSW Health social media channels is compliant with NSW Government’s standards and brand guidelines.
- Measure, monitor and report on social media content and channels, through analytics and other monitoring tools. Evaluate analytics to continually improve campaigns and social media strategy.
- Identify new opportunities, technology and social channels that will enhance communications strategies.
- Research and share your expertise on best practices in public sector social media.
- Undertaken community management and monitor social media channels to ensure critical and sensitive issues are raised with the Senior Social Media Officer and Manager, Social and Content.
- Take part in the team’s weekend and on call shift roster to support out of hours business needs.
- This is a temporary position until 30 June 2025.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in social media and/or digital communications, including the ability to effectively use social media tools and channels.
- Ability to turn complex health information into engaging social media content for a range of audiences and stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to lead the development of social media strategies.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends and public holidays and participation in the team shift roster
