About the opportunity

A rare opportunity for a motivated and experienced Clinical Scientist to lead the national and internationally accredited Cellular Therapy laboratory that performs graft manipulations and cryopreservation of bone marrow, blood stem cells, cord blood and a variety of other cellular therapies. Join this dedicated team of highly specialized scientists performing cutting edge procedures.  

Located at NSWHP Randwick campus hospitals supporting Prince of Wales and Sydney Children's Hospitals.

What you'll be doing
Responsible for the management of scientific, technical and support staff, all testing and associated activities and logistics for the assigned laboratory. The position oversees the quality, cost and operational integrity of the department, regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services in the department, human resource, business and resource management.

  1. PhD in relevant Science with minimum 5 years experience in the scope of activities carried out in a Cellular Therapies laboratory.
  2. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with negotiation skills, report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
  3. Proven leadership and management skills and experience including operational management, budget management, staff management and resource management
  4. Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
  5. Extensive experience working in the laboratory including experience in staff training and competency assessment
  6. Demonstrated understanding and sound knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
  7. Performed a minimum of five cellular therapy product processing procedures per year
