The Paediatric Transplantation Surgery Provisional Fellow position at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) involves a clinical role within the Department of Surgery, as well as a leadership and educational role. It is ideally suited for someone with an interest in paediatric liver and kidney transplants and paediatric hepatobiliary surgery. This position provides an opportunity to develop skills important for a consultant role in the inpatient and outpatient setting, with the support from the Department of Surgery Consultants as needed. 


The position is available for the 2026 Clinical Year, from 02 February 2026 to 31 January 2027. The position is accredited for advanced training and would be suitable for a candidate interested in a career in general or subspecialty training.

Selection Criteria:
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  2. Obtained or eligible for RACS Paediatric Surgery Fellowship or recognised international Paediatric Surgery specialist qualification.
  3. Demonstrated advanced abilities and commitment in Paediatric Surgery or transplantation surgery.
  4. 3-6 months experience in relevant subspecialty or equivalent preferable.
  5. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.
  6. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
  7. Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research proposal.
  8. Demonstrated contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Paediatric Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees preferable.
