About the Role 

SLHD Mental Health is committed to improving mental health for people and our communities by providing quality mental health services in partnership with consumers, families and service providers by providing quality healthcare, delivery of safe appropriate care, ensuring access to services, supporting our workforce, and working closely with the local community to manage the changing demand for services. 

The Patient Safety Manager has a primary responsibility of maintaining and enhancing the Mental Health Service's response and investigation to patient safety incidence in accordance with NSW Health and SLHD Policy.

The Patient Safety Manager shares responsibility with the Patient and Family Experience Officer for Open Disclosure processes within the Mental Health Service.

Ideal Candidate

  1. Recognised qualification in a health related field (clinical or management) and/or experience in health services.
  2. Experience and demonstrated understanding of the NSW Health Incident Management process including direct experience of managing serious incidents.
  3. Demonstrated ability and experience in high level analysis of complex issues, problem solving skills and providing subsequent concise reports with recommendations.
  4. Ensure quality and safety improvements are realised in a complex system with multiple stakeholders.
