What you'll be doing
The Senior Mental Health Clinician – Mental Health and Housing Liaison Officer provides evidence-based care for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The role includes:

  • Delivering assessments, crisis resolution, and treatment for consumers with mental illness.
  • Supporting housing access and tenancy sustainability through expert consultancy.
  • Developing collaborative, recovery-focused care plans with consumers and carers.
  • Advocating for consumers by strengthening partnerships with housing and community services.
  • Leading practice improvement, education, and strategic service development.

Essential Criteria

Qualification: CNC 1 (minimum 5 years fulltime equivalent post registration experience and also post registration nursing qualification and/or 3 years full time equivalent experience in speciality), Occupational Therapist (minimum 5 years work experience), Senior Psychologist (minimum 5 years work experience and current registration with AHPRA ) or Social Worker (minimum 5 years work experience and eligible for membership of AASW).  
Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Psychologist or Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW.

 

 Selection Criteria

  1. Experience and clinical skills working with mentally ill consumers conducting community mental health triage, comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning as well as experience in provision of collaborative care and discharge planning.
  2. Advanced understanding of housing pathways for people with severe and enduring mental illness with demonstrated advanced skills in working with partner organisations specifically Homes NSW housing services.
  3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers/carers/families and has experience working with families who are coping with Mental Health Illness.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal communications skills, effective verbal, written and negotiation skills and intermediate computer skills.
  5. Experience and knowledge in acute mental health intervention, early intervention, and CALD issues.
  6. Understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health with the ability to implement these in clinical practice.
  7. Experience in mentoring, clinical supervision, education and training; experience in developing and implementing quality improvement activities/projects.
  8. Licence: Current Class C Drivers Licence valid within Australia (P2 acceptable) willing to use it for work purpose
