Maitland Hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated Manager – Sterilising Services Unit to lead our growing team in delivering high-quality sterilisation services. This is a unique opportunity to drive operational excellence, enhance patient safety, and contribute to a vital healthcare service within a progressive and expanding hospital environment.
About the Role
As the Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the Sterilising Services Unit, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of sterilisation and decontamination services. You will lead a team of 20+ staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration while ensuring compliance with industry standards and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Rostering: Manage and coordinate staff rosters to align with operational demands.

Collaboration & Planning: Work closely with the perioperative team to schedule procedures and manage workflow.

Quality & Compliance: Oversee performance qualifications (PQ) and maintenance of critical sterilisation equipment, including washers, sterilisers, and RO water systems.

Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external contractors (e.g., Ecolab) and participate in hospital committees, including Infection Prevention and Control (IPC).

Process Improvement: Lead and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency and patient safety.

Budget & Resource Management: Oversee cost centre management and ensure optimal resource allocation.
What We're Looking For

Proven management experience in a healthcare facility, ideally within sterilisation services.

Expertise in rostering, staffing, and workforce planning.

Strong financial acumen, including budget and cost centre management.

Experience in people leadership, including performance development, staff recruitment, and conflict resolution.

Passion for continuous improvement and service innovation.

A Sterilising Certificate is desirable but not essential – we welcome candidates with diverse expertise.
