This is a brand-new role, meaning you’ll play a pivotal part in defining its scope and impact. Your insights and expertise will help shape service delivery models for Older People’s Mental Health. The role is based at the Mater Mental Health Centre, but you will work across multiple locations, including Charlestown Health Centre, James Fletcher Hospital, and sites in the Hunter Valley. While this presents a challenge, it also offers variety and the chance to collaborate with multiple small, high-functioning teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the Older People’s Mental Health team across multiple sites.

Assist the leadership team in defining and refining the role’s focus and function.

Provide advanced clinical care, particularly for complex cases within the community.

Develop partnerships with aged care facilities and other healthcare providers.

Engage in service development, quality improvement initiatives, and change management.

Contribute to strategic thinking and innovation in the development of mental health services.
The focus of this position will be on complex care, supporting older consumers with significant mental health needs. You will work in partnership with aged care facilities and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive, patient-centred care. Given that this is a newly created role, there is a strong service development aspect, you’ll be expected to take a proactive role in shaping the position and exploring different models of care. A Nurse Practitioner or Transitional Nurse Practitioner with experience in mental health, preferably with older people.

Someone comfortable with ambiguity and capable of helping define and develop a new service model.

A strategic thinker with strong clinical expertise and leadership skills.

Someone with the ability to work across multiple locations and collaborate effectively within a diverse team environment.

A clinician passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to older people with complex needs.

Requirements
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Nurse Practitioner or working towards Masters of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or a qualification / Masters level deemed equivalent.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW.
