Associate Director, Closing the Gap, Centre for Aboriginal Health (Identified)

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).

About this role
Reporting to the Director, Strategy, Reform and Transformation in the Centre for Aboriginal Health, the Associate Director role is responsible for managing a small dynamic new team to lead the implementation of the National Agreement of Closing the Gap for NSW Health.


The role will include coordinating activities and functions that contribute towards transforming Aboriginal health outcomes in line with the Closing the Gap, priority reform areas.


The Associate Director will work closely with internal and external stakeholders at the executive level across government and non-government agencies to deliver on NSW Health’s commitments under Closing the Gap.


Crown Clerk 11/12, starting salary from $139,787 - $161,663 p.a. (plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 35-hour work week)

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and manage staff undertaking policy development, projects and coordination functions related to Closing the Gap.
  • Coordinate preparation of high-quality written reports, briefs and correspondence to inform or respond to Government requests.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across government agencies including at the executive level.


About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals with:

  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and motivating staff and develop capability and potential in others.
  • Experience with preparation of documents relating to the responses to and analysis of policy matters and emerging high-profile matters.
  • Skills in managing policy development, projects and coordination function.
  • Demonstrated experience in exercising judgement in fast-paced, complex and sensitive environments.
