The Speech Pathology Department at Hornsby Hospital is looking for a motivated and outgoing Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to join the team. The person should be a good communicator and able to work flexibly to support the patients and Speech Pathology team members in this fast-paced role.

Where you'll be working The Speech Pathology Department at Hornsby Hospital is looking for a motivated and outgoing Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to join the team. We’re looking for a dynamic personality, who is a good communicator, loves working in a team and thrives in a fast paced role.
 
What you'll be doing Much of your day will be working on the rehabilitation wards delivering individual therapy to patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties as delegated by the managing Speech Pathologist. You’ll work closely with Speech Pathologists, but also other Allied Health and Nursing staff in a great team environment. There is some physical work involved in transferring patients, but you’ll be trained and become our team’s Manual Handling Trainer. The clinical work is predominantly with adults, but you will also provide support to paediatric clients, including running feeding groups, helping kids explore foods.  The position also supports the department by completing clinical admin and general administration tasks. The role will also sit on our allied health wellness committee, which helps put on social, sporting and creative events to foster a fun, welcoming and collaborative workplace culture for allied health.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.


  1. Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance or willingness to undertake this training or other qualification deemed equivalent by NSLHD.
  2. Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and an ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  3. Demonstrated computer literacy skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications.
