What you'll be doing
The Advanced Clinical Coder plays a key role in ensuring accurate coding and data quality in a tertiary healthcare setting, using extensive experience and expertise. Your responsibilities in this role also include:

  • Performing coding, grouping, and data quality tasks
  • Applying advanced skills across diverse medical specialties
  • Contributing to WSLHD's Coding Quality Plan
  • Mentoring less experienced coders when needed
  • Supporting organisational goals through high-precision work

How to Apply

  1. Extensive clinical coding experience (in the current ICD-10-AM version) across a broad range of specialties in a tertiary setting, evidenced to meet the District’s set KPIs of accuracy & throughput.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) and Activity Based Funding (ABF).
  3. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills with high level attention to detail.
  4. Proven ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time and resources to meet pre-determined targets and deadlines.
  5. Ability to analyse, abstract, interpret and report information in clinical coding forums.
  6. Enthusiastic attitude and demonstrated ability to work both independently, within a team and be flexible in a changing work environment.
  7. Demonstrated experience using computer applications.
