What you'll be doing
The WSLHD Aboriginal Traineeship Coordinator will drive initiatives to increase Aboriginal employment within the district by coordinating education and training programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. In this role you will be responsible for:
- Promoting and coordinating Aboriginal traineeships, cadetships, and internships
- Improving Aboriginal employment across clinical and non-clinical roles
- Working with various programs to support career growth for Aboriginal students
- Focusing on increasing Aboriginal representation in multiple professional streams
- Partnering with educational institutions to create opportunities

- Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. - Demonstrated experience and skills in coordination of large projects and/or programs, with a focus on and understanding of Vocational Education Training (VET) programs.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills with an ability to draft high quality correspondence and reports.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- High level customer service and stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to liaise with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work with minimal direction and undertake a diverse range of tasks relating to the management of a VET educational training program.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, with proven ability to: work effectively at all levels of the organization; influence and drive outcomes, through persuasion and the ability to gain respect and creditability with management and employees.
- Prior experience working in a health setting and/or education setting, with a keen interest in improving patient outcomes and development of employment opportunities for Aboriginal candidates.
