About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class, and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
SLHD Sexual Assault Service provides a 24 hour/7 day per week integrated psychosocial, medical and forensic service to adults and young people who present following concern about sexual assault.
The primary purpose of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2) role is to provide specialist, integrated clinical care and advice to people who have recently experienced sexual assault. This includes the provision of medical and forensic examinations to adults and young people aged over 14 years. The Clinical Nurse Specialist has advanced clinical nursing knowledge, experience and skills which they apply to deliver complex nursing care, with a focus on integrated sexual assault medical and forensic responses.
This position is responsible for the provision of services in SLHD.

Ideal Candidate
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
- Completed, working towards or willing to undertake NSW Health Education Centre Against Violence Graduate Certificate in the Medical and Forensic Management of Adult Sexual Assault (or equivalent).
- Commitment to and experience in service development and quality improvement including the capacity to initiate change and negotiate support from key stakeholders and coordinate clinical audit activities.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence (P1 or P2 Licence acceptable) and the ability to participate in an on-call roster.
