South Western Sydney’s Mental Health Service is recruiting to an established Senior Dietitian position. This position will be based at Liverpool/Fairfield Mental Health Service, and involves the provision of medical nutrition therapy to inpatient and community mental health consumers. 

This position is part of a growing multidisciplinary Physical Health Service, and plays a central role in developing expanded nutrition care for mental health consumers across SWSLHD. As one of two Mental Health Senior Dietitians, this position requires an individual with strong clinical and advocacy skills, who is interested in supporting improvements in models of care, food service, student supervision and district-wide initiatives.  

 

Are You the Right Fit? 
The ideal candidate will: 

  • Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge, skill and practice in provision of medical nutrition therapy to individuals living with severe mental illness. 
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership, including student and staff supervision, to support improved nutrition care initiatives for mental health consumers across inpatient and community settings. 
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to flexibly support the needs of various internal and external stakeholders to ensure nutrition care is optimised for consumers. 
  • Demonstrate ability to work both within a multidisciplinary team, and independently across caseloads, including working alongside a second dedicated Mental Health Senior Dietitian position at Campbelltown Hospital.  
 

Selection Criteria

  • Post graduate qualification or Bachelor in Nutrition and Dietetics as recognized by the Dietitians Association of Australia.
  • Can you describe a time when you managed a complex mental health case load, including how you applied your advanced clinical knowledge, collaborated with carers or external providers, and ensured evidence-based care?
  • Tell us about an initiative you have contributed to that improved service quality or clinical practice, including how you worked independently or within a multidisciplinary team, supervised staff or students, and used communication or systems such as CBORD to support the outcome.
