Where you'll be working
Western Sydney Drug Health NSP Services provides essential harm reduction and health promotion services that support people who inject drugs across the district. You will join a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to improving community wellbeing, reducing the spread of blood borne viruses, and delivering compassionate, person-centred care in a supportive and inclusive environment.

What you'll be doing 
As the Senior Health Education Officer, you will coordinate and lead Needle and Syringe Program services across Western Sydney Local Health District while supporting staff, strengthening community engagement, and delivering evidence-based health promotion strategies.

• Coordinate the delivery and administration of NSP services across WSLHD
• Provide accessible, professional, and anonymous harm reduction services
• Lead health promotion initiatives aligned with NSW Health strategies
• Supervise, mentor, and support staff through professional development activities
• Build strong partnerships with health professionals, organisations, and stakeholders

Essential Criteria

  • Qualification: Tertiary Qualification in Health, Community Services or equivalent

 

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated competencies and experience in a managerial role.

  2. Ability to undertake policy analysis, development and implementation.

  3. Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, manage and evaluate sensitive health promotion strategies within the NSP program, to meet the needs of priority populations.

  4. Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

  5. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health or related field.

  6. An understanding of Harm Minimisation

  7. Knowledge of blood borne viruses such as HIV, HCV and HBV

  8. An ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and current NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to different WSLHD sites or external facilities as required.
