  1. A relevant graduate or technical qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with at least three year full-time equivalent research experience.
  2. Ability to conduct research with minimal supervision.
  3. Demonstrate a level of independence and team work, responsibility and/or management that exceeds expectation for research assistant level.
  4. Discretion to innovate within own function and take responsibility for outcomes; design, develop and test complex equipment, systems and procedures; undertake planning involving resources; use and develop proposals for resource allocation; exercise high level diagnostic skills on sophisticated equipment or systems; analyse and report on data and experiments.
  5. Ability to set priorities and monitor work flows and systems within area of responsibility.
  6. Ability to perform tasks/assignments which require proficiency in the work area’s existing rules, regulations, processes and techniques, and how they interact with other related functions and to adapt those procedures and techniques as required to achieve objectives.
  7. Demonstrate increasing independence and technical proficiency.
  8. Excellent communication, database management, computer literacy and analytical skills.
