Selection Criteria

  • Must have an undergraduate degree in nursing or hold a post graduate qualification in genetic counselling or have attained at least PART 1 certification in genetics counselling from Human Genetics Society of Australasia.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize individual workloads and meet deadlines, commitments and standards of performance.
  • Working knowledge of genetic counselling – including the medical, genetic and psychosocial aspects, especially in a young cohort.
  • Experience in dealing with privacy, confidentiality, consent and ethical issues related to the process of genetic counselling.
  • Experience in the use of client management and genetic databases, word processing and pedigree drawing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and independently with excellent communication skills.
